NAIROBI, KENYA — Fuel theft is one of the quietest ways a fleet bleeds money, and Telematics Africa Limited says its fuel management system is designed specifically to close that gap.

The system installs directly on a fuel pump, effectively turning it into a controlled access point. Once in place, unauthorized fueling isn't possible — every fill-up gets logged automatically, capturing the vehicle's identity, the date and time, and which pump attendant handled it. For fleet managers who've spent years guessing why fuel costs never quite add up, that level of detail closes a lot of gaps at once.

"Fuel is one of the biggest recurring costs for any fleet, and it's also one of the easiest to lose track of," a Telematics Africa representative said. "Once you can see every single transaction, the theft usually stops on its own — people know they're being watched."

Telematics Africa reports that clients using its fuel management system have reduced fuel theft by close to 60 percent. The system is often deployed alongside the company's fleet tracking and workshop management tools, giving fleet operators a fuller picture of vehicle costs beyond just fuel.
