NAIROBI, KENYA — Telematics Africa Limited has introduced a driver behaviour monitoring system aimed at fleet operators struggling with reckless driving, vehicle abuse, and the costs that come with both — from higher accident rates to faster wear on tyres and engines.

The system tracks how vehicles are actually being driven, not just where they are, flagging patterns like harsh braking, speeding, and excessive idling. Reports are generated both offline and online, so fleet managers can review driver conduct after the fact or step in closer to real time when something looks risky.

"Reckless driving costs fleets in ways that don't always show up on a balance sheet right away — accidents, part replacements, insurance claims," a Telematics Africa representative said.
