People still remember the old Sierra from the 90s it was known for its tough boxy look and off-road feel. Now Tata Motors has brought it back with a modern twist. The new Sierra keep the same name but comes with updated features like big screens and ADAS (driver assistance tech). Prices start at Rs 11.49 lakh. Lastly there’s the diesel engine. The 1.5-litre unit produces 118PS and up to 280Nm depending on the gearbox. The manual give the best mileage at 21.26 kmpl while the automatic deliver around 19.22 kmpl. Diesel is available from the Smart variant onwards. It’s the best choice for long drives and many owners easily gets around 18 kmpl on highways.
The Sierra is built to handle rough roads easily. It gets 205mm ground clearance so bad roads and speed breakers are not a problem. The approach departure and ramp angles also helps when roads get uneven. Boot space is quite big at 622 litres and expands to 1257 litres with seats folded. Fuel tank is 50 litres and buyers get 17-inch or 19-inch wheels depending on the variant which is giving better road presence.
The suspension handle bumps smooth and all four wheels gets disc brakes for better control. There is also an SOS e-call feature for emergencies and the iRA connected tech lets buyers track and control many functions from their phone. Which is making the car more safer and connected for users.
