For many older warehouses and commercial facilities, limited ceiling height can become a serious obstacle. Building an entirely new structure may involve purchasing land, going through zoning requirements, paying additional taxes, and dealing with lengthy construction schedules. Roof Lifting with Wolfe House Movers
The company has completed challenging commercial lifting projects across the country, including a significant roof-raising project in Rochester, New York, in March 2018. The 24,300-square-foot roof was raised 9 feet 5 inches, creating 23 feet 6 inches of clearance beneath the bar joists. The structure was secured and braced to withstand wind loads. Once the steel erector installed the new supporting posts, Wolfe carefully lowered the roof onto them, completing the elevation successfully.

More recently, Wolfe House & Building Movers completed a commercial project in Afton, Texas, in July 2025. The client needed additional headroom inside a massive 120-by-1,050-foot steel-frame warehouse and was working with an accelerated schedule. Wolfe developed a lifting plan that divided the work into three 350-foot sections.

Thirty jacking towers were positioned around the warehouse perimeter and securely braced. Using unified hydraulic jacking equipment, the Wolfe crew raised the roof and its supporting columns an additional 2 feet 4 inches. The towers were extended to support the structure at its new elevation while stub columns were installed beneath the existing columns. Once that work was finished, Wolfe lowered the building onto its permanent supports.

The Afton project was completed efficiently, with the coordinated planning, equipment, and experienced crew allowing the work to stay on schedule without unexpected complications.
