Atlanta, Georgia — 15th December 2025 – Successful Black Parenting Magazine, the nation's first and longest-running publication dedicated exclusively to families raising Black children, today introduced the Black Parenting Academy, a comprehensive global support network designed to address the unique challenges Black families face in education, mental health, and cultural identity development.
Since its founding, Successful Black Parenting Magazine has been the trusted voice for Black families, providing culturally relevant content, expert insights, and practical guidance through its print publication, digital platforms, and annual National Black Parenting Conference. The magazine has reached hundreds of thousands of families with research-based strategies and community-driven solutions that mainstream parenting resources often overlook.
Building on this foundation, the Black Parenting Academy extends the magazine's mission into an interactive, year-round ecosystem combining free monthly expert-led meetups, a private online community, and premium MasterClass-style courses specifically designed for families raising Black children.
"For years, our readers have told us they need more than articles—they need a village," said Janice Robinson-Celeste, Publisher and CEO of Successful Black Parenting Magazine. "The Academy is our answer: a space where families can learn from experts, connect, and access the culturally grounded support they've been searching for but couldn't find anywhere else."
WHY THE ACADEMY IS ESSENTIAL
Black families face documented challenges that mainstream parenting resources rarely address with adequate cultural competence. Black children are disproportionately suspended from school, underrepresented in gifted programs, and often lack access to culturally competent mental health support. Meanwhile, parents navigate questions about protecting children from online racism, building a strong cultural identity, and even considering international relocation for better opportunities.
The Black Parenting Academy addresses these realities by providing:
● Cultural Competence: Every resource, course, and conversation is grounded in the lived experiences of Black families
● Expert Authority: TEDx speakers, award-winning authors, and renowned educators who understand both the research and the reality
● Global Accessibility: Virtual format connects families across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the African diaspora
● Comprehensive Support: From free community resources to in-depth masterclasses, families can access the level of support they need
A COMPREHENSIVE ECOSYSTEM
Dubbed "The MasterClass for Black Parenting," the Academy creates an accessible, expert-backed support ecosystem:
Free Community Access includes monthly virtual meetups covering positive discipline, school advocacy, neurodivergent support, digital safety, and mental wellness. Members also gain access to a private online forum with discussion groups, downloadable resources, and live Q&A sessions with parenting experts. No credit card is required to join.
Premium MasterClass Series features in-depth masterclasses taught by nationally recognized experts, award-winning authors, and TEDx speakers, including:
● Momagers, Assemble! Discover How to Raise a Star Without Losing Your Mind is taught by Janice Robinson-Celeste, award-winning publisher and author of "The Momager's Playbook." Drawing on her experience as momager to supermodel Sessilee Lopez, who started her modeling career at age 12, Robinson-Celeste shares real-world strategies for navigating the entertainment industry, protecting a child's well-being, managing finances, balancing education with career demands, and maintaining family relationships while raising a child star.
● Beyond the Mood Swings: A Parent's Guide to Teen Mental Health is led by Tony Weaver, Jr., TEDx speaker and award-winning author of "Weirdo." The course provides practical tools for recognizing warning signs, starting difficult conversations, and supporting teens through anxiety, depression, and identity challenges.
● Leaving the USA: A Survival Guide for Black Parents Who Want to Relocate Abroad is taught by Azizi Tuere, who has spent over a decade raising her family internationally across 50 countries. The course covers choosing destinations, navigating visa requirements, maintaining educational continuity, and preparing children for cross-cultural transitions.
Additional masterclasses address financial literacy, raising children in the age of AI, postpartum wellness, IEP advocacy, and age-appropriate sex education.
“The IEP advocacy resources alone are worth joining. I wish I'd had this years ago," said one parent.
