WILMINGTON, Del. — Shalom Delaware, the Jewish Federation serving Delaware and the Brandywine Valley, has announced a major expansion of its community programs and outreach efforts in response to growing demand for social support, education, family services, and community engagement across the region.

As communities nationwide continue to face increasing social division, economic uncertainty, and rising concerns about antisemitism, Shalom Delaware says local families, students, seniors, and community members are turning to trusted organizations for meaningful connection, support, and security.

“Our mission has always been to strengthen and protect Jewish life while building a stronger, more connected community for everyone,” said a spokesperson for Shalom Delaware. “The needs in our community have grown significantly, and we are committed to expanding our programs to ensure no individual or family feels isolated or unsupported.”

The expanded initiatives include:
Increased support for Jewish education and youth engagement
Enhanced outreach programs for seniors and vulnerable families
Community wellness and mental health resources
Volunteer and leadership development opportunities
Expanded partnerships with local agencies and community organizations
New cultural and educational events designed to strengthen community connection

Shalom Delaware also continues to work closely with its beneficiary agencies and partner organizations to provide critical services throughout the state, including family support programs, student engagement initiatives, senior care resources, and emergency assistance efforts.

Community leaders say the expansion comes at an important moment as nonprofit organizations nationwide face increasing pressure to address both social and emotional community needs.

“People are searching for connection, belonging, and reliable support systems,” the organization stated. “This is about more than programs — it’s about creating a stronger and more united future for our entire community.”

Founded in 1936, Shalom Delaware has served as a central hub for Jewish philanthropy, advocacy, education, and community engagement throughout Delaware for nearly nine decades. The organization continues to support a wide range of local and global initiatives focused on strengthening Jewish life and community resilience.
