RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA — [July, 2026] — Saudi Film Permit announced today an expansion of its local crew and equipment network, adding new vetted crew members and additional camera, lighting, and grip inventory across Riyadh, Jeddah, and AlUla.
The expansion is aimed at reducing the need for international productions to import crew and equipment from abroad — a cost and logistics burden that has historically added time and expense to shoots in Saudi Arabia. With a larger local bench, Saudi Film Permit can now staff productions ranging from single-day commercial shoots to multi-week feature productions using in-country resources.
Importing crew and equipment has traditionally been one of the largest line items on international production budgets for Saudi Arabia, factoring in flights, customs clearance for camera and lighting equipment, and per diem costs for imported labor that could often be sourced locally at comparable skill levels. Saudi Film Permit says the new additions to its network span camera operators, gaffers, grips, sound technicians, and production assistants, alongside expanded inventory of cinema cameras, lighting packages, and grip equipment held in Riyadh, Jeddah, and AlUla.
“Every piece of gear or crew member we don’t have to fly in is a production that moves faster and spends more of its budget on the screen instead of on logistics.
All new crew members added to the network go through a vetting and orientation process covering both technical competency and familiarity with the expectations of international productions, an area the company says has historically been a sticking point for foreign producers unsure whether local hires would be able to work at the pace and standard they're used to on set.
The expanded network is available to all Saudi Film Permit clients at standard local day rates, with equipment packages scaled to production size and available for both short-term commercial bookings and longer feature and episodic engagements.
The growth aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals to build a self-sustaining local production ecosystem, including training and certification programs for Saudi crew members working alongside international production teams.
