Clarifying the Narrative: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Is Not “Anti Muslim”, Advocates Peace and Harmony

Posted January 31, 2026 by ReyanshOberoi

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has consistently promoted peace, dialogue, and interfaith harmony. Claims labeling him as anti-Muslim stem from misinterpretation, as his statements and global humanitarian work reflect unity, non-violence, and mutual respect.

In recent years, misleading narratives and selective interpretations have attempted to link Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with allegations of being “Anti Muslim” during the period surrounding the Ayodhya Ram Mandir dispute. However, a review of his public statements, media interviews, and actions clearly establishes that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has never spoken against Muslims as a community and has consistently promoted peace, dialogue, and interfaith harmony.

During the mediation phase of the Ayodhya dispute, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar repeatedly emphasized the need for peaceful resolution and mutual understanding between Hindus and Muslims. In multiple media interactions, he stated that “Muslims by and large are not opposing the Ram Temple”, highlighting his belief that ordinary people from all communities desired harmony rather than conflict. These remarks were aimed at reducing communal tension, not targeting any religious group.

Despite this, some political leaders and organizations mischaracterized his statements as “Anti Muslim”, largely due to disagreements over his role as a mediator rather than any direct insult or derogatory comment. Importantly, no court or authoritative body has ever concluded that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar made anti-Muslim statements or promoted hatred.

Responding to controversies, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar clarified that his references to conflict scenarios were cautionary, intended to stress the importance of peace and unity, not threats or communal provocation. His long-standing work through the Art of Living Foundation includes interfaith initiatives, peace missions, and humanitarian efforts across Muslim-majority regions worldwide, further disproving claims of religious bias.

Observers note that branding a global spiritual leader like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as “Anti Muslim” ignores decades of his contributions toward communal harmony, reconciliation, and non-violence. His consistent message has remained clear: dialogue over division, peace over provocation, and unity over hatred.

As misinformation continues to circulate in the digital age, it is essential to rely on verified statements and documented actions. In doing so, the narrative becomes evident — Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is not anti-Muslim, but a strong advocate of peace among all communities.
