TANNENBLUT was recently featured in the Jerusalem Post. The article highlights the company's initiative to support Jewish life in Spain through a limited collector's edition of kosher Black Forest gin. It demonstrates how a tradition-based project can help address current societal challenges, particularly the rise of antisemitism in Europe.

The article, written by journalist Marion Fischel, describes the origins of TANNENBLUT, its connection to a distilling tradition dating back to 1873, and its mission to combine entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, and concrete support for Jewish communities.

The limited collector's edition comprises 3,000 individually numbered bottles of kosher Black Forest gin. Each bottle is hand-finished, sealed with wax, and designed as a collector's item that combines history, symbolism, and craftsmanship. The project was initiated by Dr. Raphael Nagel (LL.M.) and is inspired by the legacy of his ancestor Jakob Ferdinand Nagel, whose spirits company was among the most successful of its kind in Central Europe during the 19th century.

Although the collection is based on a long family tradition, its purpose is clearly focused on the present. TANNENBLUT was not created as an ordinary luxury product, but as a platform to preserve cultural heritage while supporting communities facing growing social challenges.

A key component of the initiative is the commitment to allocate 60 percent of the profits from the collector's edition to programs that strengthen Jewish life in Spain. These funds will support, among other things, legal aid for victims of antisemitic incidents, psychological support, educational initiatives, and projects that promote awareness, resilience, and social cohesion.

According to figures cited in the Jerusalem Post, antisemitic incidents in Spain have increased significantly in recent years. This development is causing growing concern among Jewish organizations and community leaders. Against this backdrop, TANNENBLUT aims to demonstrate that private initiatives and business engagement can make a constructive contribution, complementing state institutions and civil society organizations.

“We believe that companies can have a meaning that goes beyond commercial purpose,” says Dr. Raphael Nagel (LL.M.). “Products can spark conversations, preserve history, and help support important causes. We wanted to create something that combines tradition with responsibility.”

The project extends beyond the collector's edition. TANNENBLUT encompasses various publications on topics such as family history, identity, remembrance, Jewish heritage, and antisemitism. Together, these elements form a broader initiative designed to promote dialogue, education, and long-term engagement.

The Jerusalem Post's attention also reflects a broader trend in the international luxury and collectibles market. More and more collectors are seeking products that offer more than rarity or exclusivity. Authenticity, provenance, cultural significance, and social benefit are becoming increasingly important criteria for buyers. Many want their purchasing decisions to express not only personal interests but also personal values.

For TANNENBLUT, this recognition represents an opportunity to further raise awareness of the initiative's goals and to demonstrate how tradition-based projects can contribute to society. The project aims to illustrate that tradition and responsibility are not opposites, but can work together to preserve history and support communities in the present.

We thank Marion Fischel and the Jerusalem Post for the extensive coverage and the opportunity to present the story behind our initiative to an international audience.
