HAMBURG / BLACK FOREST, June 8, 2026
TANNENBLUT has launched a unique initiative that combines tradition, craftsmanship, and social responsibility to support Jewish life in Spain at a time of rising anti-Semitism in Europe.
At the heart of the initiative is TANNENBLUT GIN, a kosher Black Forest gin and the first release in a limited collector's series, a collection of 3,000 individually numbered bottles designed as collector's items. The project is far more than a premium spirit. It was created as a visible stand against anti-Semitism and as a practical contribution to supporting Jewish communities facing growing challenges.
Inspired by the legacy of Jakob Ferdinand Nagel, whose spirits company was among the most successful distilleries of its time, TANNENBLUT combines a historic family tradition with a contemporary mission. Each bottle carries on a story that began in 1873, while simultaneously contributing to the support of Jewish communities today.
The initiative comes at a time when anti-Semitic incidents have increased significantly across Europe. In Spain alone, the number of reported anti-Semitic incidents rose by 321 percent in 2024. This underscores the need for greater commitment, increased attention, and concrete support for Jewish communities.
In response, TANNENBLUT has committed to allocating 60 percent of the proceeds from the collector's series to initiatives that strengthen and protect Jewish life in Spain. The funds will finance legal support for victims of anti-Semitic incidents, psychological support services, educational programs, and community projects aimed at fostering resilience and combating hate.
For Dr. Raphael Nagel (LL.M.), founder of TANNENBLUT and the Abrahamic Business Circle, the project represents a practical response to the growing challenges facing Jewish communities in Europe.
"At a time when anti-Semitism is rising alarmingly in Europe, I no longer wanted to just stand by and watch," said Dr. Raphael Nagel (LL.M.). "That's why I decided to do something seemingly unusual: I combined my family's tradition with a clear mission."
The collector's series was deliberately conceived as more than a classic product launch. Each bottle is handcrafted, individually numbered, and produced according to kosher standards. Selected bottle numbers carry special significance within Jewish tradition, making the collection a luxury product with cultural significance.
The first edition is strictly limited to 3,000 bottles. As a collector's series, every bottle opened or consumed increases the rarity of the remaining bottles. The concept was developed to create a lasting connection between tradition, collecting culture, philanthropy, and social impact.
"Even though a bottle of gin is an unusual place to look for an answer to the growing anti-Semitism in Europe, I have always believed that a company can have a significance that goes beyond the actual transaction," explained Dr. Nagel.
Unlike traditional fundraising campaigns, TANNENBLUT focuses on long-term engagement. Each bottle serves as a conversation starter and fosters dialogue about Jewish heritage, identity, and the importance of preserving Jewish life in Europe. Supporters aren't just purchasing a spirit. They are participating in an initiative that raises awareness and enables concrete assistance for communities facing increasing challenges.
The project is also based on the principle of economic diplomacy. TANNENBLUT is convinced that economic relations can foster understanding, create meaningful connections, and support positive social developments that go beyond commercial success.
"This project is an expression of what I believe: economic diplomacy can build bridges where politics fails. Luxury and values need not be a contradiction," said Dr. Nagel.
Since its launch, the project has sparked the interest of collectors, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and supporters from a wide variety of backgrounds, all united by the common goal of combating antisemitism and preserving cultural heritage. A portion of the first edition has already been allocated through pre-sales, underscoring the strong interest in the initiative and its mission.
As awareness of the initiative continues to grow, TANNENBLUT remains committed to its goal of expanding support for Jewish communities through additional projects and future collector's editions. The company is convinced that preserving Jewish life requires both visibility and concrete action.
"Together, we can show that Jewish life in Europe can not only survive, but thrive visibly, proudly, and successfully," said Dr. Nagel.
