The Blacklining: Where Black-Owned Businesses Are Seen, Supported, and Sustained
A growing movement transforming overlooked entrepreneurs into connected, thriving communities

Howard County — It started with a question: Why is it so hard to find and support Black-owned businesses?
That question became a directory.

The directory became a platform.
And today, it has grown into The Blacklining—a national movement reshaping how Black entrepreneurs are seen, supported, and sustained.

Founded by Dr. Rachel Bonaparte, The Blacklining was never meant to be just a list of businesses. It was designed to be a living network—one that replaces isolation with connection and frustration with forward motion.

“Black entrepreneurs are building incredible things every day, often without visibility or support,” said Dr. Bonaparte. “The Blacklining exists to make sure they are not building alone.”

More Than Exposure—A Community That Moves Together
At its core, The Blacklining is about access—access to customers, knowledge, relationships, and opportunity. The platform offers:

• A Living Directory: A continuously growing space where people can intentionally discover and support Black-owned businesses
• Education That Empowers: Free workshops that break down finance, credit, and wealth-building in ways that are practical and usable.
• Connection With Purpose: A private community where entrepreneurs meet mentors, form partnerships, and turn conversations into collaborations.
• Visibility That Converts: Tools that help small businesses reach wider audiences and compete beyond word-of-mouth.

The results are personal and powerful. A Chicago-based designer reached clients she never thought possible. A Maryland wellness coach doubled her reach after joining the platform. These are not outliers, they are signs of what happens when community meets structure.

Reimagining What’s Possible
As The Blacklining looks ahead, plans include a mobile app, intentional mentorship pairings, and multilingual access to serve Black entrepreneurs globally. The vision is long-term: building systems of ownership and support that outlive trends and withstand economic shifts.

“We’re not waiting for permission,” Dr. Bonaparte said. “We’re redrawing the lines ourselves.”

Join the Movement
Black-owned businesses can join The Blacklining through a tiered membership model. For as little as $5/month, individuals gain access to the business directory, exclusive events, member-only giveaways, and voting power on featured products, businesses, and causes.

Businesses can join for as little as $20/month, making it an accessible option for emerging brands looking to build visibility. Business members can list their company in the directory, promote events, access practical toolkits, and unlock additional growth resources.

Consumers and allies are invited to explore the directory and support Black-owned businesses with intention.
