Led by General Manager Luca Di Michele, Rosaluna Ristorante opened its doors in Miami in August 2024 and is continuing to establish itself firmly within the local community. With two full years of daily operations now successfully behind it, the Italian dining concept has well and truly found its footing in one of the most fiercely competitive hospitality markets anywhere in the United States.
A Career Built on Operational Depth
Luca took an unusual road to running Rosaluna. He studied law at La Sapienza University in Rome. Then he moved to New York in 2021 to join his family business.
Moving from law to restaurant work sounds strange. But the skills are the same. Law school teaches you to stay calm under pressure. It teaches you to handle multiple problems at once. That exact mindset helps him run a busy restaurant every single day.
His first role in the United States was at Numero 28, the family's New York Italian restaurant. Rather than starting at a management level, Luca invested time in learning the operation from the inside. This foundation shaped everything that followed.
Expanding the Family's Footprint
Zeppola Bakery in New York was opened by the family in 2023. Luca was part of the team, and was navigating the complexity of running two distinct concepts simultaneously. This meant different products, customers, and operational demands. Pulling that off without letting standards slip takes a rare breed of operator. It separates the ones who grow from the ones who stumble.
The opening of Rosaluna in Miami in 2024 was the most significant step yet. As General Manager, Luca was responsible for:
Building the team
Establishing supplier relationships
Designing operational systems
Creating a dining environment reflecting genuine Italian hospitality
"Every restaurant we've opened has taught me something the previous one couldn't," said Luca Di Michele. "Miami has its own character, and Rosaluna had to earn its place here. Two years in, I feel we're doing that."
