New clinical capacity brings evidence-based depression treatment to more Los Angeles residents, with expanded insurance and Medi-Cal access
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — August 3, 2026 — Los Angeles Therapy Institute (LATI) today announced an expansion of its depression therapy services across the Los Angeles area, adding clinical staff and appointment availability to meet what the practice describes as sustained growth in requests for depression treatment. The expansion increases access to individual depression counseling for residents across the city's neighborhoods, including through Medi-Cal and major insurance plans.
Mental health providers across Los Angeles County have reported increased demand for depression treatment over the past two years, a trend LATI has observed directly in its own intake numbers. Long wait times at many outpatient clinics have left residents searching for a therapist for depression in Los Angeles who can offer a timely first appointment, a gap LATI's expansion is intended to help close.
The practice's depression therapy program is built around Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), delivered by licensed clinicians with backgrounds treating mood disorders in both individual and group settings. Sessions are available in person at LATI's Los Angeles locations and via telehealth, and the practice accepts Medi-Cal alongside a range of private insurance plans, an option intended to lower the cost barrier that keeps some residents from starting depression counseling.
"We're seeing more people reach out earlier, before symptoms become severe, which is encouraging, but it also means our team needs the capacity to meet them," said a clinical director at Los Angeles Therapy Institute. "Expanding our depression therapy program lets us shorten wait times and make sure that cost or scheduling isn't the reason someone goes without care."
For many Los Angeles residents, proximity and affordability determine whether treatment happens at all. By adding clinicians across its existing locations and maintaining Medi-Cal acceptance, LATI aims to reduce two of the most common barriers cited by residents seeking depression treatment in LA: cost and travel time. The practice says the expanded program is now accepting new patients for both in-person and telehealth appointments.
