Mahindra launched XUV 3XO compact SUV in 2024 and the response was mixed. The design caught attention. Some buyers liked the fresh look while others were unsure. What helped it sell quickly was the strong set of features and the attractive price.
Building on that success, Mahindra started 2026 with the launch of XUV 3XO EV. It comes in two variants. AX5 costs Rs 13.89 lakh and AX7L costs Rs 14.96 lakh. With this launch, Mahindra now competes directly with the Tata Nexon EV. It has a 39.4kWh battery that drives the front wheels and produces 150PS of power and 310Nm of torque. Mahindra says the real-world range is 270 to 300 km. Drivers can choose from three drive modes: Fun, Fast and Fearless for different conditions.
The booking for this EV is now open for interested buyers. They can book online through Mahindra’s website or visit a dealership. Deliveries will start on February 23.
In terms of safety, the XUV 3XO earned a five-star rating in Bharat NCAP. It scored 29.36 out of 32 for adult protection and 43 out of 49 for child safety. The EV keeps the same structure and safety features. Six airbags come as standard. Level 2 ADAS helps with traffic and the 360 degree camera makes parking better.
The EV also comes with dual-zone climate control to keep the cabin cool and a panoramic sunroof that adds light and space. Adrenox connectivity works with smartphones and Harman Kardon speakers handle the audio. Two 10.25-inch screens show infotainment and driver information. The driver seat adjusts in six ways and the rear seats fold in a 60:40 split. The boot has enough space for weekend trips. Ventilated front seats make hot days more comfortable and wireless charging keeps devices powered.
On the road, XUV 3XO EV handles Indian roads well. It takes bumps quietly and feels stable on highways. The battery has passed all safety tests. Owners can use a mobile app or smartwatch to control more than 80 functions, like checking the charge or cooling the cabin before a drive.
Mahindra has done the basics well on the 3XO EV. But it remains to be seen if it will achieve the same sales success as its ICE counterpart or stay an average performer.
