Beverly Hills, CA – Dr. Marie Y. Lemelle, President of the Beverly Hills Black Chamber of Commerce and a longtime figure in the public relations and entertainment industries, is drawing increasing criticism from ethics watchdogs and members of the business community over reported concerns related to her digital conduct and business operations.
According to multiple independent publications, including The Inscriber Magazine and Patch Beverly Hills, a pattern of questionable practices has come to light. Reports confirm that negative reviews were removed from several of Lemelle’s businesses—actions allegedly tied to direct contact she initiated with a former client and reviewer. This has raised alarm among transparency advocates who argue that suppressing critical consumer feedback undermines public trust.
Additional scrutiny has emerged surrounding Lemelle’s use of professional platforms. A June 2025 post on her verified LinkedIn account—shared under a pseudonym—referred to Lemelle as a “client” of her own agency, creating confusion about her role and prompting concerns about potential misrepresentation.
Regulatory inconsistencies have also surfaced. Business filings show Lemelle’s enterprises are registered across multiple states but list a single residential address in Glendale as their headquarters. However, city records indicate her business license does not permit on-site client interactions at that location, raising questions about compliance.
Public records further reveal Lemelle has been involved in numerous civil cases in Los Angeles County. While the outcomes vary, critics point to the volume of litigation as indicative of deeper concerns regarding her professional practices.
“As mounting concerns challenge the core values of transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership, this situation highlights the critical need for unwavering integrity—especially within organizations entrusted with representing business communities,” industry experts say.
Despite the growing body of published evidence and concern from the small business community, an affiliate of the California Black Chamber of Commerce had no comment when contacted.
As scrutiny builds, many in the business and advocacy sectors are calling for greater transparency, urging due diligence and accountability from those in public-facing leadership roles.
