LONDON, United Kingdom — Sam Ekuban Awoodzie, the Executive Secretary of the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana, will represent the association at the International Trade Council Global Convocation & Leadership Forum

The Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana serves as a pivotal professional body dedicated to the advancement of the local manufacturing sector. By representing producers of clay bricks and tiles, the association focuses on elevating product quality and fostering a workforce of skilled artisans. This mission is central to sustaining a reliable supply of building materials for large-scale housing and infrastructure developments, while simultaneously generating demand through strategic partnerships with both public and private sector entities.

Participation in the three-day programme in London offers the association a critical platform to address the ongoing challenge of infrastructure deficits in Ghana. The organisation actively promotes the use of locally sourced clay products as a robust alternative to imported construction materials. By participating in this high-level forum, the association intends to explore new export opportunities within the African sub-region and identify international best practices that can be integrated into the Ghanaian manufacturing landscape.

The association’s membership extends beyond manufacturers to include architects, engineers, project managers, and estate developers, ensuring a holistic approach to construction and design. This comprehensive structure allows the organisation to provide expert advisory services alongside its core manufacturing activities. During the forum, Mr Awoodzie will engage with trade officials and global business leaders to discuss how localised industrial bases can better withstand global supply chain disruptions through the use of indigenous raw materials.

Operating from its headquarters in Tema and maintaining a significant presence at its Kpone Kokompe sales depot, the association remains committed to rigorous quality standards. The organisation maintains close technical ties with the Building and Road Research Institute and the Ghana Standards Authority. These partnerships, supported by clay characterisation reports from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, ensure that Ghanaian clay products meet the strict criteria required for international trade and domestic safety.

Our objective in London is to demonstrate the maturity and reliability of the Ghanaian clay manufacturing sector to an international audience. We are focused on establishing trade pathways that support the export of our burnt bricks and tiles across Africa, reducing our dependency on external supply chains and promoting a more sustainable approach to industrialisation.

By engaging with global policymakers, we hope to showcase how local material production can be a primary driver for economic stability and infrastructure growth. We are seeking to build relationships that recognise the value of high-quality, local craftsmanship in meeting the global demand for durable and environmentally responsible building solutions.

In addition to its trade and manufacturing focus, the Brick & Tile Manufacturers of Ghana maintains a commitment to corporate social responsibility, exemplified by its 2019 initiative to construct public brick benches at Kimbu Gardens. This dedication to public service mirrors its broader goal of improving the built environment through the versatile application of clay products, ranging from roof and floor tiles to hollow and solid bricks, as well as ceramic horticulture products.
