A preview ceremony was held the day before the official opening, on Friday , 18 July, welcoming special guests including local officials. Attendees were given an early opportunity to explore the museum’s exhibits during an exclusive preview event.

Funeshiru invites visitors, particularly primary and secondary school students, to see, touch, and play with the world of ships through immersive displays. Key attractions include the world’s first 310-degree LED screen navigation simulator available to the general public (based on MOL research), a 30-metre-wide theatre showcasing giant vessels, and interactive art walls that bring visitors’ ship drawings to life.

Located next to the MOL Sunflower Ltd. ferry terminal, the museum offers activities and exhibits for the whole family. Ship tours are scheduled to commence in August 2025, adding further depth to the visitor experience.
The site also features a café and a gift shop. The café, inspired by the idea of a global port where people and goods converge, serves a variety of foods transported by sea. Highlights include museum-exclusive curries, meals, drinks, and desserts. Visitors can also browse a selection of merchandise available only at the museum.

Through its interactive approach, MOL aims to deepen public understanding of the shipping industry—highlighting the scale of global logistics, the importance of maritime trade in daily life, and the people and technologies that power the sector. The initiative also seeks to promote maritime education and environmental awareness, while inspiring future generations and cultivating interest in the shipping industry.
