When Joe Kenney's son, Gary, ended his life in April 2019, it changed his life forever. Even with his extensive personal and professional connections, Joe felt overwhelmed and powerless, struggling to locate sufficient resources or support during his son's mental health emergency. That experience made him aware of a broader concern—if a person with access to numerous opportunities couldn’t secure help, what hope did the typical individual possess?

From unfathomable grief emerged a strong commitment. At Gary’s funeral, Joe vowed to develop something that could change the system and save lives. That commitment turned into Here Tomorrow, a location where individuals in distress can access private suicide assistance without wait times, criticism, or fees. Only two years later, in early 2021, Here Tomorrow launched and rapidly turned into crucial support for hundreds in need.

It is founded on the principle that mental health services should be reachable, prompt, and individualized. Since its establishment, the organization has offered confidential, peer-led suicide assistance to over 2,000 individuals at no cost. Friends facing despair or suicidal thoughts and family members concerned for a dear one are greeted with empathy, comprehension, and genuine assistance.

The foundation of Here Tomorrow’s strategy is its group of Certified Recovery Peer Specialists, people with personal experience who are equipped to support others on their path to recovery. These peers provide not just emotional assistance but also practical resources for healing, connecting with individuals at their current state, and guiding them towards their next steps.

Assistance continues beyond the initial discussion. We provide continuous, no-cost assistance for a full year, featuring weekly support groups five days a week, along with up to 16 completely funded therapy sessions with over 75 licensed mental health experts. Each service is customized to address the distinct requirements of every person.
