New Delhi, April 14, 2026: Electrification is set to play a defining role in strengthening India’s energy security, especially amid increasing global volatility, according to Mr. Hartek Singh, CMD, Hartek Power, as he takes over as Chairman for ELECRAMA 2027.
Against the backdrop of ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly in West Asia, which continue to disrupt global energy supply chains, Mr. Singh emphasized that India must focus on building domestic capabilities, accelerating electrification, and developing resilient energy infrastructure.
“Energy security must be built within. Electrification, supported by robust grid expansion and digital intelligence, will be central to India’s long-term resilience and economic growth,” he stated.
Highlighting India’s ambitious renewable energy roadmap, Mr. Singh noted that the target of achieving 500 GW of renewable capacity must be supported by parallel investments in transmission networks and smart grid systems. While renewable capacity can be scaled rapidly, transmission infrastructure requires longer development cycles, often resulting in temporary challenges such as power curtailment in certain regions. However, ongoing investments in grid expansion, along with the integration of AI-driven monitoring and automation, are expected to mitigate these issues over time.
He also underlined the critical role of India’s MSME sector, which forms a significant part of the electrical manufacturing ecosystem. Enhancing quality standards and improving global competitiveness will be key to establishing India as a leading manufacturing hub for power equipment.
Mr. Singh further pointed to a more responsive and collaborative policy environment, where stronger alignment between industry and government is accelerating project execution and addressing sectoral challenges such as rising input costs and project delays.
Looking ahead, he stressed that the next phase of India’s energy transition will be driven by smart grid adoption, incorporating automation, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics to enable efficient energy management and reliable power delivery.
Reinforcing this vision, the Government of India has identified electrification as a cornerstone of energy security. In his address on March 23, 2026, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of reducing reliance on hydrocarbons through increased electrification. India’s installed capacity currently stands at approximately 520 GW, including around 283 GW from non-fossil sources, with a target of reaching 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. This transition is supported by investments of nearly ₹3 lakh crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and a transmission pipeline exceeding ₹6 lakh crore, signaling a clear shift toward an electricity-driven economy.
The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) has officially announced the 17th edition of ELECRAMA 2027, scheduled to take place from February 20–24, 2027, at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
The event is expected to feature over 1,100 exhibitors and generate business enquiries worth approximately USD 25 billion.
Under Mr. Singh’s leadership, ELECRAMA 2027 will emphasize global collaboration, advanced manufacturing, and digital innovation, further strengthening India’s position as a global hub for electrical equipment and energy solutions.
As India navigates an increasingly complex global energy landscape, electrification is emerging as a strategic imperative shaping the nation’s economic and industrial future.
