Situated at Kolkata, West Bengal, Gairik Consultancy Pvt Ltd has completed and implemented the design and development of a multi-vendor e-commerce platform at “gairik.store”, now live across ecommerce, property, motors, jobs, professional services, astrology consultations, hotel listings, bill payments through the BBPS network, and prepaid cards.

The build took the position early on that treating the platform as a perfectly built and categorized infrastructure with proper fintech services. The storefront is what users see, and the payment rails, vendor verification system, dispute resolution process, and financial product layer are what the platform actually runs on. Getting that distinction right in the architecture meant some decisions that added time upfront and reduced friction later.

Vendor onboarding was one of those decisions. Most multi-vendor platforms standardise logistics, pricing bands, and return policies across all sellers, which simplifies platform management and narrows what vendors can actually offer. Gairik was built without those constraints. Vendors choose their own logistics partners, set their own prices, and define their own return terms within the compliance framework in the multi-vendor system. The verification process covers legitimacy, not operational method.

The platform supports four transaction models, B2B, B2C, C2C, and C2B, running on the same payment infrastructure and going through the same dispute resolution process regardless of transaction type or size under the same multi-vendor category. Bill payments through BBPS cover over 200 biller products, including utilities, insurance premiums, and loan repayments. Prepaid cards are available for users outside conventional banking access.

The jobs and professional services verticals went through a more detailed credential verification process than the product categories, because the cost of a bad match in those categories lands differently than a delayed delivery. That distinction in verification depth by category was figured out mid-project rather than designed in from the start, and it is now part of the standard onboarding process for service providers and recruiters with our latest and greatest fintech services under the vast usage of multi-vendor category.
