Colombo, Sri Lanka – FitsAir has officially launched direct flights between Colombo and Ahmedabad, becoming the first and only airline to operate non-stop services between the two cities.
Commencing on 19 June 2026, the new route operates three times a week and strengthens connectivity between Sri Lanka and Western India. Ahmedabad, the commercial hub of Gujarat, is an important market for tourism, trade, investment, and business travel.
The inaugural service was marked with a launch ceremony attended by representatives from FitsAir, the travel trade, Walker's Tours, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, and Sri Lanka's tourism sector.
Speaking at the event, FitsAir Executive Director Ammar Kassim said the new service represents more than a new route, creating stronger links between Sri Lanka and Gujarat while making travel faster and more convenient for passengers.
The direct flight reduces travel time to approximately three hours and forty minutes by eliminating the need for connecting flights, offering travellers a faster alternative to previous indirect services.
The launch forms part of FitsAir's ongoing network expansion strategy as the airline continues to strengthen regional connectivity through affordable direct air services. Passengers can book flights via the FitsAir website, ticketing offices, and authorised travel agents.
