MENLO PARK, Calif. -- Sept. 17, 2026 -- Dura-Foam Roofing and Solar Center, a Bay Area roofing and solar company that has operated out of the same Menlo Park address since 1981, announced today its expansion of its integrated roofing and solar program for customers throughout the Bay Area region.
The program is a formalized approach that Dura-Foam has employed for over 20 years. Dura-Foam, as part of its program, designs and installs solar panels and roofs, and ultimately warranties both as one continuous system. Traditionally, roofing and solar systems are installed as separate systems by different subcontractors and crews.
As the cost of solar systems declines and their adoption increases, property owners are quickly realizing the benefits of solar, but are running into the problem of the solar system being installed on a roof that has a limited useful life. The existing system must be removed and the roof replaced, thereby increasing the cost and time for the overall system.
Dura-Foam Roofing and Solar Center's integrated program solves this issue by incorporating the solar and roofing systems as a continuous, warranted, and collaborative effort.
"A solar system is a 25-year decision and," as Trevor Hill of Dura-Foam Roofing and Solar Center said, "dependable as the roof underneath it. When one licensed company engineers, installs, and stands behind both roof and panels, the owner has a single point of accountability instead of two contractors arguing over who is responsible. That is the entire reason we built the business this way."
Solar panels take two decades to pay back. What's the roof going to look like?
Most buyers of solar systems are concerned with the payback period and the type of panels being used. Dura-Foam maintains this is the step where projects go wrong. Solar systems are permanently installed on roofs. Solar crews that do not also do roofing have no reason, and often no license, to ensure the details of the roof are corrected to integrate the solar system.
Licensed as a solar roofing contractor in both roofing and solar (CA licenses 435836 and 488066) and credentialed in HVAC and electrical, Dura-Foam integrates all of these in a single system. This allows the company to integrate the roof and solar systems concurrently. In doing so, the company can integrate the solar system, and in conjunction with the roofing system, balance the load of the structure. Additionally, Dura-Foam is able to integrate the solar systems with the roofing systems to provide a seamless integration for a home or building.
Energy efficiency is the primary factor in Dura-Foam's energy efficient roofing systems, and they have Cool Roof Rating Council and ENERGY STAR designations. Dura-Foam is an affiliate of the U.S. Green Building Council. Reflective rooftops help lower cooling demands in the summer by reducing the energy needed to offset peak cooling demands. Dura-Foam reports that more than 50 percent of the roofs they install recover their costs from the reduced utility bills within a few years. This number is derived from the 20,000 customer installations that they claim are located within the San Francisco Bay Area.
Built on Four Decades of Local Work
Dura-Foam relies on the integrated model to compete in the marketplace. The company has been in the same line of business since its founding in 1981. Trevor Hill has owned the company since 2004 and has continued to expand the business. The business added energy and solar services to complement the core roofing business. In the 1980s, Dura-Foam began installing energy-related systems and roofs that are still in service more than 30 years later. The company offers a 10-year, no-leak warranty on roofs that can be extended to 15 years. The company has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, and is also ranked by UL and ValueStar. The company has Eichler CA Modern Homes certifications.
A history of good service strengthens customer trust. Contractors have many years in the business and in the community to build a positive reputation. The structure of a foam roof is visible, enabling the owner to walk on the roof to evaluate the installation. Dura-Foam's contractor has been installing foam roofing systems in this location for over 45 years and is continually in business under the same ownership. The contractor knows the importance of installing roofs right the first time.
This expanded program includes the entire Bay Area, including North Bay, South Bay, East Bay, and the Peninsula, for both commercial and residential sites.
