NEW DELHI, India — Sept 1, 2026 — Moving mail out of Lotus Notes has always meant dealing with a dead end of sorts: the NSF format only really opens inside Notes itself. DataVare Software's answer to that, its  NSF to IMAP Converter , skips the usual detour through another static file and drops the mail straight into a live IMAP mailbox instead, somewhere like Gmail or Office 365 that people can actually check from a phone. With Version 2.0, the company is putting more of the decision making back in the user's hands before that migration happens.

The biggest shift is a genuine look inside the file before anything moves. Rather than trusting the software to carry everything over correctly, users can now open an NSF file and see the mail sitting inside it, folder by folder, and decide from there. That decision now has more teeth to it too: instead of migrating an entire NSF file to the destination mailbox in one go, specific folders can be pulled out and left behind, which matters more than it sounds like when someone only needs, say, three years of a mailbox rather than fifteen.

The rest of the update is about getting out of the user's way. The interface has been cleaned up so fewer clicks stand between opening the tool and starting a migration, something the company points to as a common complaint from people who don't touch conversion software often enough to remember every step. And for the first time, that interface isn't locked to English; Version 2.0 adds 19 languages, a fairly overdue move for a tool with a genuinely international user base.

"NSF to IMAP is one of those migrations people only do once, and usually because they have no other choice left," said Smera Katoch, Co Founder and Head of Development at DataVare Software. "Nobody wants to find out after the fact that the wrong folder went along for the ride. Letting people see and choose before we touch anything just felt like the right order to do things in."
