Softaken's New Crop Tool Trims PDF Margins With a Live Preview Before You Commit

Users set exact margin measurements and see what gets removed before downloading

Softaken Software just released Crop PDF, and it fixes a small but genuinely annoying problem most crop tools make you drag a box around the page and hope you got it right. This one works off actual numbers instead. Type in how many points to trim from each edge 72 points is roughly an inch and a shaded overlay shows exactly what's about to disappear before it's gone for good.

The need for something like this comes up more often than people expect. Scanned documents often pick up extra white space or stray marks near the edges. Old PDFs exported from other software sometimes carry oversized margins that waste space when printed. And plenty of people just want to tighten up a page before dropping it into a report or a slide deck. Doing that by eye with a mouse-driven crop box tends to end in a second attempt once the file is already downloaded. Softaken built this tool around the idea that people should be able to see the result before committing to it not after.

Like the rest of Softaken's toolset nothing here touches a server. The PDF opens, gets measured, gets trimmed all on the device it started on from the moment the file is dropped in to the moment the cropped version is saved. There's no waiting on an upload, no queue and no copy of the file sitting anywhere else in the meantime.

"People don't want to guess and then redo it," said a Softaken product representative. "Cropping by exact numbers and seeing the preview first means they get it right the first time, without a second pass. That's really the whole idea behind it precision without the back-and-forth."

Here's what's included:
• Margin cropping by number not by dragging a box freehand
• A live preview that shades exactly what's being removed before you download anything
• Fully local processing — the file never leaves the browser
• No account, no signup, no cost
• Downloads a new copy every time. the original file stays exactly as it was
• Works in any modern browser, and keeps working offline once the page has loaded once

For anything heavier cropping a whole batch of files at once, or applying the same margins across dozens of documents. Softaken's desktop version picks up where the browser tool leaves off, with options built for that kind of volume.

This release rounds out a growing shelf of browser-only PDF tools from Softaken, sitting alongside rotation, splitting, compression, and full editing tools. All of them are built the same way: quietly, locally, without ever asking the user to hand over a file just to get a simple task done.
